Today was the first day of half-term, so of course it rained. Luckily we'd already been out for a run (get me, two days in a row) to pick up the car from the (rather boozy) party we'd been to yesterday. Dodging between the showers, we meat-shopped in the butchers (chicken, diced steak and a pork hock) and picked up veg.
After copious phone calls, we made arrangements to meet up with three Puddlers at Pyramids. (That sounds like an awful movie.) Luckily I'd phoned the pool, they were so busy, Cal went there early to pick up wrist bands to avoid waiting for an hour and a half.
Having talked about this before, today we did it. We let the boys swim on their own and watched them from the cafe. Armed with strict instructions to stay either in pairs or in the group of four, off they went, sliding, diving through waves and having fun on inflatables. Admittedly we saved £5 each not having to go in, but it was £1 to spectate and we spent the extra £4 on tea! The boys were left to organise their own lockers and showers etc.
All mums agreed that they'd been great, and that this might be the start of something good.
Now, we just need to get him walking to school on his own...
