An important derby match today, after the excitement of the Cup Final last week - this was SSA Premier -v- Elite - a game we'd been anticipating for ages, and that's the adults not the children! Stressful to watch, we won 5-1 and it's clear that the team's strength is in their passing and their shape on pitch, hard lessons to learn after being beaten week after week.
Ben's had a great weekend. Sleepover on Friday night at the JRs, as we were out at a gig. Yesterday he went to H's to play for the afternoon. After football today, S and R came back to play at ours - Minecraft and Hide'n'Seek. This afternoon, we are going to Robot Wars with Charlie Up The Road. Should be good, even if the last time I watched was when Craig Charles was presenting!
This last week or so has been a rollercoaster emotionally for Ben and football. Last week, he managed to keep his emotions inside all game. When the whistle went, he just let it all out, sobbing in dad's arms. He wasn't upset they lost, more that the ref had had a good game! We are always told it's because he's passionate and we do appreciate that, but tiptoeing on those eggshells hurts our feet. This week there were no explosions, no arms in the air (like his mum!) and that wasn't just because they were winning. I hope this is the way it's going to be.
