Footie, fitness and feet

Footie New year. New term. New school. New friends. New football team. New position! Ben hasn't played football in a league since January, but his team have trained since then and played a few friendlies before switching clubs. Imagine our excitement for the first game of the season! It didn't end in a win, and their captain had history with Ben, but he played his socks off. He was left wing, now he's in defense. We were very happy with his performance, well done! Tomorrow heralds the trials for the school football team...

Fitness Before his midday match, he competed in his second junior parkrun. Mr Humdrum was a volunteer and Ben earned his first volunteer points too, for picking up cones at the end. He needs another 24 points to get a t shirt! When Mr Humdrum and I eventually start the adult parkrun on a Saturday, he will join us. It's not just running he's started, but lifting too! Ben's friend's dad said that whenever Ben visits, his weights move around mysteriously. He has starting using my old weights in his bedroom, which was a worry when he'd broken his arm as he still lifted!

Feet The obligatory studs and astros had to be renewed this week, ahead of the first match and school team trials. Last week he was playing in a size 7.5, today we bought size 9! I'm going to stop feeding him. He is growing far too much!
